The highest fine imposed on MND

11 Sep 2007

Czech Office for the Protection of Competition has imposed in it´s first instance decision a fine worth Kc5m on state owned oil mining company Moravske naftove doly (MND) statni podnik for errors in tenders to remove environmental damage.

The fine is the highest the UOHS has ever imposed for bad public tenders. The verdict has not taken effect yet and the company, which is in liquidation since 2002, can appeal against it. The administration of a public tender for 4,361 billion CZK without opening award procedure was the reason why the company has been fined.
