Agrofert can take control of Agrotec, Agri CS

22 Sep 2006

The Office for the Protection of Competition has approved the concentration of Agrofert Holding and agricultural machinery sellers AGRI CS a.s. and CARLOS, spol. s r.o. (owner of company Agrotec).

The merger will not raise the market strength of the companies to an extent that would harm economic competition. The UOHS assessed the effect of the merger on four concerned markets, namely the sale of farm machinery, lorries, passenger cars and building machinery. The merger will cause only a low growth of the market shares, moreover there are many rivals in the areas.

The members of the Agrofert group are now over 120 companies from the food, agricultural and chemical industries with over 17,800 employees.

The company Carlos has a direct control over company Agrotec that is one of the largest domestic farm machinery sellers. Its subsidiary is Agri CS which imports farm machinery. It is, among other things, the sole importer of CASE IH and STEYR machinery.
